This year's CSGN Community Projects Fund will close shortly, remember to submit your applications in time. The deadline for applications is Midnight on 28 October 2013. Groups can apply for grants of between £1,500 and £3,000.

Interactive Habitat Network User Tool

Scottish Natural Heritage have developed an Interactive Habitat Network User Tool.

It consists of a simple GIS mapping tool that allows users to view habitat networks at a range of scales. It also allows users to scenario-plan new land use options (such as woodland planting, housing development) to see their effect on connectivity and habitat function across landscapes.

Local People Local Paths

Active Travel Scotland

Paths for All have announced grant funding of up to £1500 for community groups working to improve and develop paths in their local area. The aim of the fund is to encourage local people to use their local paths for recreation and active travel.

This year’s CSGN Community Projects Fund is now open. Groups can apply for grants of between £1,500 and £3,000.

This year we want to focus on projects undertaken for the benefit of, and/or involving children and young people under 16 years of age.

Household Survey Reveals Link Between Health and Access to Greenspace

The Scottish Household Survey (SHS) annual report was published on 28th August. The survey, which took place in 2012, included questions on access to greenspace.

It revealed that those who regularly use their local greenspace are more likely to say that their health is good or very good when compared to those who don't use it at all. Similarly, those who never use their local greenspace are almost three times as likely to say that their health is bad or very bad when compared to as those who use it regularly.
