Landfill Tax Funding from WREN

Legacy 2014 funding available to Encourage Physical Activity

There are a range of funding programmes available through the Legacy 2014 project, that covers a variety of sectors and interests, including sport and recreation, the environment, community regeneration and the arts. For example:

The Legacy Active 2014 fund has £10 million fund to help build or upgrade places within communities where people can go to get active or take part in sport

The Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme Open Fund has been set up so individual artists, community-led groups and arts organisations can to apply for awards that could range from £20,000 up to £300,000 to develop a vibrant creative programme in Glasgow and across Scotland.

BIG Lottery 2014 Communities Fund is a micro-grant programme offering £300 to £2,000 to grass roots sports and community organisations to encourage more people to take part in sport or physical activity.

Learning Outdoors Fund 2012/13

By the closing date of 11 January, well in excess of 200 schools and nurseries had applied for funding. So far, on behalf of the funders Forestry Commission Scotland, we have awarded payments to 155 schools to the value of £52,000.

Early applicants have started feeding back and we hope to share some of their experiences on the website in the coming months. Funding to buy water proof clothing has been one of the main requests this year.

Community Project Fund 2012 Winners

33 community projects have each been awarded up to £2000 of funding support from the 2012/13 round of the CSGN Community Projects Fund. Supported by Forestry Commission Scotland, the CSGN Community Projects Fund is designed to engage local communities in the delivery of green network improvements on the ground in order to promote increased community use and maintenance of local greenspace.

West Lothian Council Sign CSGN Concordat

West Lothian became the first Council in 2013 to sign up to the CSGN local authority Concordat when the Council Leader and Chief Executive met up with CSGN Chair, Keith Geddes, on 15 January to take receipt of their Concordat. Following the ceremony, Council staff and members of local community groups showed the Chair around part of Livingston’s blue/green network to learn about what has been achieved and is still planned along the Dedridge Burn.
