Integrated Habitat Networks Map

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) has released updated information about its Integrated Habitat Network maps. Its Key Messages Information Sheet explains how to interpret and use the available Integrated Habitat Network (IHN) maps for the Central Scotland Green Network area, and this this information sheet has been updated to reflect both feedback from users and the additional habitat layers now available.

Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Consultation

A public consultation has been launched on the draft Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Programme. Views are sought on a draft Adaptation Programme which sets long term objectives, and outlines the actions the Scottish Government will take with its partners to help to increase the resilience of Scotland's people, environment, and economy to the impacts of a changing climate.

In August 2013, the CSGN became greenspace scotland's first Silver Supporting Member. Keith Geddes, Chair of the CSGN Partnership Board, said: "The CSGN and greenspace scotland share many aims – we both want to bring change to life by creating a high quality green network which enriches people's lives. Becoming a supporting member provides a great way for us to work together and enables CSGN to draw on the skills and experience of the greenspace scotland staff team and to support the excellent work of greenspace scotland."

Celebrating the Community Project Fund

The beautifully renovated Linlithgow Burgh Halls was the venue for an event last week to celebrate two years of the CSGN Community Project Fund. It provided an opportunity to hear from and read about 10 projects that have successfully completed projects.

Supported by Forestry Commission Scotland, the CSGN Community Project Fund has, over the last two years, provided £123,653 of grant aid to 99 projects from across the Central Belt.

John Muir Way

Active Travel Scotland

As work progresses on the new long distance route to commemorate John Muir, partner organisations including East Lothian Council, SNH, CSGN, John Muir Trust and John Muir Birthplace Trust have agreed the route will be called the 'John Muir Way'.

The new John Muir Way is scheduled to open on 21 April 2014 which marks both the Scots-born naturalist's birthday and the centenary of his death.
