John Muir Trail

On behalf of the CSGN Board, SNH has been developing proposals for the John Muir Trail as part of a wider network of longer distance routes within the CSGN.

Following a workshop in February 2011, SNH has met with all 19 local authorities and other partners. These meetings have been valuable in shaping up the route proposal for the Trail and has helped develop thinking on the wider network.

SNH has now launched a consultation draft proposal and is seeking detailed feedback from those local authorities and partners whose areas and interests the route would pass through.

In addition SNH welcomes more general comments from others both on the route proposal and the wider network.

Consultation questions on the John Muir Trail have been provided to help guide responses. Comments by tracks changes or otherwise are fine, or please call Ron McGraw or Rob Garner to discuss the proposals

Responses are welcomed by 8 July. Please respond to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. 01786 435394 and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. 0131 316 2682

Following the consultation, SNH intends to refine the proposal and prepare for implementation, including undertaking a technical survey. Over the summer, SNH will also be in contact with all local authorities with draft maps for the wider route network (to check for accuracy) before later consulting more widely on the network proposal.
