As schools are facing increasing pressures to take on more and more pupils, and for those that already have restricted space, the prospect of taking on more pupils is a complex issue to tackle. This is currently affecting outdoor spaces in schools across England and has the potential to affect those across the UK.
There is a concern that schools are faced with limited options, and are using school play grounds or playing fields to build permanent or temporary classroom spaces. As patron and a supporter of Learning through Landscapes (LTL), Sir David Attenborough has helped create a video to help schools find innovative solutions without reducing the footprint of the school's outside spaces.
LTL have also developed guidance and support documents for those who are facing these issues. Further information and guidance documents can be found on the LTL website.
