Since the Launch of Scotland's Greenspace Map (SGM), greenspace scotland has been investigating options for updating and maintaining the SGM data. Following a technical evaluation, it has been working with Ordnance Survey (OS) to explore whether the greenspace attribution can be collected at source by OS and provided as part of the MasterMap product.

Working with a pilot area in Dundee, greenspace scotland are now close to finalising a methodology with OS. The Spatial Information Board has agreed that the production of the next iteration of SGM will be taken forward as a collaborative project in partnership with OS in the context of the One Scotland Map Agreement (OSMA). Discussions are underway to finalise the details of the partnership project.

This work has been led by the SGM Technical Working Group which involves representatives from greenspace scotland, Scottish Government, Improvement Service, Scottish Natural Heritage, SEPA, Forestry Commission Scotland, Central Scotland Green Network Trust, Dundee City and Renfrewshire Councils.

greenspace scotland will be sharing the findings of the pilot and the new methodology at a workshop on Tuesday 16 December in Edinburgh. For further details please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
