Paths for All has recently issued two pieces of guidance: the new Path Grading System for Scotland and Estimating Price Guide for Path Projects.
The Path Grading System for Scotland allows path managers to help path users chose routes that are suitable to them. It provides a system to describe paths – how steep they are, if they are gravely or smooth and so on.
The system has been designed by Forestry Commission Scotland, Paths for All and Scottish Natural Heritage, and fulfils the long-standing need for a standard path description system to ensure that all users, including walkers, cyclists and riders, have good information to help them choose a route that suits them.
For those needing help to cost a path project, there is also guidance available which is divided into helpful sections to cost different types of work.
