farm forestry

Forestry Commission Scotland and Soil Association Scotland are looking for farms in the Central Scotland Green Network area to host 'Assessing Your Potential' farm walks throughout 2014.

Host farms will receive a free assessment to identify the on-farm opportunities for potential cost savings and incomes which could be generated by taking existing woodland into management and planting new woodland. The results will be used during a half-day open farm walk to discuss the options, look at how individual farms could benefit and share ideas with other land managers.

The free assessment of existing woodland will be carried out by an independent forestry consultant and the findings can be used by the host farm without obligation. The half-day farm walk will be led by a forestry consultant with numbers limited to suit availability of parking etc. Refreshments will be provided by the organisers, and it would be useful if hosts could provide a brief overview of the farm business by way of introduction. If you would like to be considered as a host farm or for further information, please contact:
