Plantlife is leading a national partnership working together to save the remaining wildflower meadows and grasslands in key areas of the UK. Nationally, only 2% of the meadows and grasslands that existed in the 1930s survive today - we've brought together a partnership of conservation organisations and local authorities to protect the remaining fragments in key areas and raise awareness of their importance and their plight.
The partnership has been awarded an initial grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund to plan the three-year project. As part of the planning process, we're undertaking a targeted survey of landowners/managers in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. We want to find out more about what people know and think, including understanding what information and support landowners feel they would need to improve the management of grasslands and meadows for nature conservation. The results will inform the detailed planning for the project.
If you own or manage a wildflower meadow and you can take part in the survey online. The survey should take no more than 10 mins to complete and is is open until the end of November 2012.
