SNH have two grant schemes currently open, one on Community Action and a second on Natural Projects. Both will prioritise action with celebrates 2013 as the Year of Natural Scotland. In addition, there are two further schemes open jointly with Creative Scotland and Visit Scotland that encourage new events and projects to celebrate the links between culture and nature.
The Year of Natural Scotland 2013 is the latest in the Scottish Government's series of themed years, led by EventScotland and VisitScotland, which will culminate in Homecoming Scotland in 2014. The aim of Year of Natural Scotland 2013 is to promote Scotland's stunning natural beauty and biodiversity, and promote opportunities for visitors to enjoy our beautiful landscapes, wildlife and heritage responsibly.
Scottish Natural Heritage is the lead national agency for Year of Natural Scotland 2013 with responsibility for the planning and delivery of activity during the year. Their two main grant schemes – Community Action and Natural Projects will both be prioritising applications that support the delivery of Year of Natural Scotland
Additionally, two other grant schemes are open specifically for Year of Natural Scotland. The first is the Creative Scotland Open Fund for projects in recognised sites managed for people and nature, including John Muir anniversary event activity and run jointly with Creative Scotland. The second is the VisitScotland Natural Scotland Growth Fund which will support marketing projects aimed at increasing tourism spend throughout Scotland while showcasing its natural heritage.
