In December the Scottish Government published its refreshed Regeneration Strategy “Achieving a Sustainable Future” which set out its vision of a Scotland where our most disadvantaged communities are supported and where all places are sustainable and promote well-being. The role of the CSGN in achieving this vision is noted in the strategy, and a commitment is made to continued support for projects that improve the environment in regeneration areas through the CSGN Development Fund.
The strategy specifically notes the role of improved access to high quality greenspace in creating health-nurturing environments and highlights the role of the CSGN in achieving this in the central belt. The role of the natural environment in sustainable placemaking is also highlighted and emphasis placed on tackling environmental dereliction and ensuring access to high quality greenspace in our most deprived communities.
The strategy was launched by Alex Neil, MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment (pictured above).
