SNH is  developing a LIFE+ application to reduce habitat fragmentation and improve connectivity across the CSGN, through targeting, facilitating and implementing action on the ground.  With a start date of July 2013, SNH is looking to build a partnership to deliver around £3-5M of activity
over 4-5 years to:
  • identify the big picture habitat network aspirations we want across the CSGN (from the current IHN mapping and other data);
  • work with delivery partners to identify regional and local scale projects - both rural and urban - to go towards achieving these;
  • identify and implement the most achievable projects and those with the most benefit/best value and deliverability
The first step are to form the project partnership and work up the application, which has to be ready by July 2012.
There are links to delivering many of the CSGN's land use actions - such as woodland expansion, sustainable flood management and greenspace/green infrastructure improvements.
