Project background

Forest Research was awarded £76,620 to conduct site investigations and trials to demonstrate the benefits of restoring typical brown-field site types for successful woodland creation in Central Scotland. Further research and trials will then identify the potential contribution of woody biomass production to further improve restored land over the short term, and associated costs and yields of the process. This research will be complemented by an advisory service and a series of targeted workshops that will disseminate the results to stakeholders across Central Scotland and beyond.
