East Ayrshire Woodlands was awarded £25,700 to create a series of "greenspace journey trails" leading from currently vacant, derelict or neglected sites to forest school sites within existing woodlands throughout Ayrshire. As part of the new trails the vacant/derelict sites will be enhanced through native wildflower planting and the creation of living willow 'gateway' structures. In addition, new trail interpretation panels will be created and forest school sites at the end of each trail will be enhanced to enable them to be used by more children. Furthermore, Forest School level 2 leader training for 16 adults will be provided to enable more outdoor learning to be delivered to Ayrshire children.
