The Edinburgh and Lothians Greenspace Trust received £23,050 to undertake an audit and woodland condition survey of the Edinburgh Millenium Woodlands leading to recommendations for the future management of the woodlands. Some 70 woodlands owned by the City of Edinburgh Council have been audited, management objectives established, costed proposals prepared, and opportunities identified for sites to add to social benefits for local people through volunteering, training and education-based activities. As a result of the report, 6 priority sites have been identified for immediate improvement. A community training programme and further community projects are also being explored.
