New Lanark Hotel, 3 March
11am - 4.30pm
Join members of the Open Street Map Community to map the woods, parks, facilities and green spaces around New Lanark World Heritage site. Help create a free map, displaying the amazing natural assets of the Clyde Valley and New Lanark. We will teach you how to survey, edit and upload to OpenStreetMap website. We hope to create a map to showcase this spectacular area and help improve access and management in the future.
Mapping parties are events where anyone can come and participate in the OpenStreetMap project. OpenStreetMap is a free, open source map that can be contributed, edited and used by anyone, anywhere. Mapping parties are social events where experienced and new mappers can meet to share and learn more about the project. The event is open to all.
It's fun. It's free. You can help!
This map party is being sponsored by The Central Scotland Green Network Community Fund administered by Glasgow & Clyde Valley Green Network Partnership with a focus on mapping woodlands and access to green spaces.
Please book your place for the event.
There will be a follow-up mapping workshop two weeks after the mapping party, where you can learn how to make custom maps and use the data we have collected. This will be held in Glasgow.

Central Scotland Forest Trust (CSFT) is working in partnership with Stirling & Clackmannanshire Councils, Forestry Commission and SNH to deliver a Working Woodlands Project in Stirling & Clackmannanshire. A key aspect of the project is to carry out an audit of the publicly owned woodland resource; identifying priority issues and areas, as well as key opportunities to make better use of this woodland resource. To date the survey and assessment work has been carried out and the preparation of the framework is underway, which we hope will guide the future management of and investment in woodlands in the area.
As part of the project a seminar is being held to illustrate the potential value of the woodlands and forests within Stirling and Clackmannanshire and to explore opportunities for developing this local resource.
The seminar is designed to attract a wide range of delegates including forest owners and managers, council representatives, community interests and end-users. The event will also provide an excellent opportunity to strengthen links along the whole forest and timber supply chain; from producer to processor to end user.
This event can be booked online, or for further details visit the CSFT website.
